About Mame Khan
Playback and folk singer Mame Khan are from Rajasthan, India. Many Hindi films, including Luck By Chance (2009), I Am (2010), No One Killed Jessica (2011), Mirzya (2016), and Sonchiriya (2019), have included him as a playback vocalist. Khan and Amit Trivedi performed the song Chaudhary together on Coke Studio @ MTV (second season). In 2016, he was honored with the Global Indian Music Academy Awards (GiMA) Best Folk Single Award. Early years and upbringing
Mame Khan was born in Rajasthan’s Satto, a little town close to Jaisalmer. He is a member of the Rajasthani Manganiyar community of India. From an early age, he was exposed to the folk music of the Manganiyar community. Ustad Rana Khan, his father, was a folk singer from Rajasthan. He was awarded a six-year scholarship from the Indian Council for Cultural Relations at the age of fourteen to continue his education in music and the arts.

In 2009, Khan made his Bollywood singing debut in the movie Luck By Chance alongside Shankar Mahadevan. But in 2012, he gained notoriety after making an appearance in an episode of Coke Studio @ MTV (season 2), which featured the song Chaudhary, which he had written with music director Amit Trivedi. Mame worked with singer Mili Nair on another song, Badri badariya, which he performed at Coke Studio @ MTV. He sung the soundtracks to films such as Sonchiriya, Mirzya, I Am, and No One Killed Jessica. Additionally, he provided the voice of a Hindi song for the Malayalam movie Monsoon Mangoes. Kickstarter Project Mame Khan’s Desert Sessions, the inaugural album, was released in October 2015. For Star Sports’ and Hotstar’s Pro Kabaddi League 2015 season, he performed the national anthem. He put out a song called Sanu Ik Pal Chain Na Ave in December 2016; it mixed folk music from Rajasthan and Punjab. He collaborated on McDowell’s No. 1 Yaari Jam song in December 2017 with the composer duo Salim–Sulaiman. He additionally provided vocals for TV ads featuring brands like Tanishq and Samsung. With ICDS and the Rajasthani government, Mame Khan has been the spokesperson for the “Mhari Champion” nutrition program.
He also participated in the folk project My Country, My Music, which was led by Shankar Mahadevan. He was the lead vocalist for The Manganiyar Seduction, a world tour by Roysten Abel that began in 2006. He has played at some of the most well-known events in India, such as Sahitya Aaj Tak, Mood Indigo, Repertwahr Festival, NH7 Weekender, and Rajasthan Partnership Summit. He worked with Kaushiki Chakraborty at his June 2018 troupe performance at Mumbai’s National Centre for the Performing Arts (NCPA).
