About Goldie

English music producer and DJ Clifford Joseph Price MBE, popularly known as Goldie, was born on September 19, 1965.

Although Goldie first gained recognition for his graffiti art, he is best known for being a trailblazing musician in the UK jungle, drum and bass, and breakbeat hardcore scenes of the 1990s. He co-founded Metalheadz and put out a number of singles under the pseudonym Rufige Kru. Subsequently, he put out multiple albums under his own name. One of those, Timeless (1995), peaked at number 7 in the UK charts.

Among Goldie’s acting credits are the BBC soap opera EastEnders (2001–2002), Guy Ritchie’s Snatch (2000), and the 1999 James Bond film The World Is Not Enough. In addition, he has made appearances on several celebrity reality TV programs, such as Maestro, Strictly Come Dancing, Celebrity Big Brother 2 (UK), and Come Dine with Me.

Childhood
Price is of Scottish and Jamaican descent, having been raised in Wolverhampton after being born in Walsall, England. At the age of three, he was placed for adoption and raised by multiple foster parents as well as in childcare facilities. As per his 2002 autobiography, he suffered from both physical and sexual abuse during this period. In the 1980s, Price was a part of the breakdance group Westside, which was centered in Wolverhampton’s Whitmore Reans and Heath Town neighborhoods.
